Looking for a Dispatcher!

Dispatcher – Building Materials Delivery
A-1 Doors & Mouldings Ltd. — Surrey, BC

A-1 Doors & Mouldings is a leading BC supplier of doors, windows, mouldings, and architectural hardware. We’re looking for an experienced Dispatcher to manage our daily delivery operations and keep our drivers, sales team, and customers connected and informed.

What You’ll Do

Morning

  • Send driver routes each morning (or set up the day before)
  • Confirm the driver app is working properly for each driver
  • Coordinate with drivers/helpers to ensure all orders on the OptimoRoute list are loaded onto the truck
  • Sequence deliveries logically to maximize route efficiency
  • Check tasks in Quo
  • Send customer delivery notifications through OptimoRoute once trucks have left the depot
  • Manage the A-1 Delivery Line, responding to calls and texts within 10 minutes
  • Field phone calls from sales, staff, and admin regarding deliveries
  • Investigate delivery issues with the warehouse team and log remarks in the Shipped Schedule
  • Prepare and distribute the Shipped Schedule to sales reps and support staff shortly after the last driver leaves
  • Send separate, individual text updates to the sales rep and the customer for any “not ready” jobs

Throughout the Day

  • Actively monitor and manage OptimoRoute and the A-1 Delivery Line
  • Provide excellent, responsive customer service on all delivery-related communication
  • Assist drivers with route changes or edits in real time
  • Build the next day’s delivery schedule: enter duration, priority, and review details, import into OptimoRoute, and build logical routes based on material and location
  • Print and organize route sheets/driver paperwork
  • Add late-arriving orders from sales or admin to the tentative schedule (if received before 4 PM)
  • Prepare and send the Tentative Delivery Schedule by 4 PM, noting any jobs that won’t be ready and why

What We’re Looking For

  • OptimoRoute experience required — you know how to build, import, and manage routes in the platform
  • Prior dispatch experience, ideally in building materials, freight, or a similar logistics environment
  • Excellent customer service skills — calm, clear, and responsive communication with customers, drivers, and staff
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask under time pressure
  • Comfortable working with Excel and coordinating schedules across multiple teams
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to problem-solve on the fly
